LTK MARCH NEWSLETTER

Sorry this issue is a bit late as I have been without broadband due to moving house so things have been a bit mad recently! But back to normal and yet again a busy month ahead for March with the focus on junior gradings at the clubs coming up. Eligible students will receive a form at their club. Check with Sensei Lee for you eligibility and if you have any questions about the LTK grading process.

February Student of the Month:
Now that we have completed another month training of the year we can award the student of the month at each dojo! 100% attendance, working hard, being a great partner, respectful amongst other attributes make up the award. LTK is more than just kicking and punching! Congratulations to: Ted Pert & Romily Ellis of Llanidloes / Toby Lloyd, Jacob Bird & Mair Thomas of Presteigne / Ella Taylor of Weobley / Indi Bennett of Rhayader
 
5th Dan Black for Sensei Lee
During February Sensei Lee attended a weekend karate residential with Iain Abernethy 7th Dan WCA Chief Instructor, and Iain awarded Sensei Lee with his 5th Dan which was also ratified by Peter Consterdine 9th Dan BCKA Chief Instructor. It has only been over 5yrs since Sensei Lee's last grading and a minimum of 6yrs for the next!! Thanks to everyone's support, training and guidance over the years.

LTK Junior Colour Gradings:
The next LTK gradings for junior colour belts will take place week commencing Monday 19th March through to Friday 23rd March. All eligible students will receive a form at their dojo. For those students who have recently joined at a LTK club in the last couple of months you will be eligible to grade at the next one in. Any questions on the grading process please email Sensei Lee at info@leetaylorkarate.co.uk
 
Black & Brown Belt Grading:
The next LTK Senior Black & Brown belt grading will take place on Saturday 23rd June at Presteigne Sports Centre. Eligible students will receive their invitation at their club. LTK senior gradings only take place every six months so try your best to attend or you will have to wait for the next one in November. 
 
LTK Skills For Life Packs:
Each junior student receives a skills for life pack relevant to their next colour belt grade in karate, which is packed full of information to help them work towards the next level. In each pack there are sheets which include a Syllabus, Grading Info, Action Words, School Achievement Record and Home Achievement Record. The pack will help the student work towards their next grading whilst developing essential skills connecting them to the club, school and home life. Showing the student that everything that can be learned in the dojo can be applied to other areas to help them achieve any goals they want to work hard for.

Due to the Easter Holidays LTK clubs will be closed for 1 week, please keep a note of the dates:

Sensei Lee Seminar
For LTK senior grades on Sunday 15th April Sensei Lee will be teaching a kata/bunkai practical karate seminar using the focus mitts in Presteigne. The focus mitt drills are designed to enhance your skill and understanding of various kata bridging the gap between solo practise of the forms to bunkai drills, allowing you to develop impact of the techniques in a safe way. FULL DETAILS HERE!

Extra Training Sessions for 2018
These are for ALL students, ALL ages and ALL grades and put on to help you progress with your karate and usually take place on a Saturday 10am-12noon. Here is a list for the year so you can plan ahead!

Black Belts Only Sessions for 2018
This is a great opportunity for all LTK Black Belts to come together and train. Since the last black belt grading we now have a great group of LTK black belts so it would be awesome to start the year training together! These will usually be 10-12noon followed by a mixed martial art session 12-2pm that you are welcome to attend free of charge. There will only be 3 black belt sessions this year so I hope you can all attend. Here is a list for the year so you can plan ahead!

Mixed Martial Arts!
We now have 2 mixed martial arts classes at Presteigne & Llanidloes. So if you always wanted to learn martial arts but Karate didn't take your fancy, come along and try mixed martial arts. You do not need to be fit, or young, just the will to turn up! Llanidloes is every Monday 8pm at The Function Room, Presteigne is every Tuesday 7pm at the Memorial Hall. LTK adult students are welcome to attend in addition to their Karate class.
 
Womens Kickboxing
Ok ladies new year new you! If you are tired of the same old exercise class, want to learn something new which will develop your confidence, fitness and aid weight loss, come and give it a go! Every Wednesday 7-8pm Presteigne Youth Centre. I guarantee lots of fun!
 
New LTK APP for your mobile devices!:
Lee Taylor has created the Lee Taylor Karate App for your Android smartphones and tablets. What this means is that LTK students can have video references of karate drills / kata / bunkai information at your fingertips! The app will be updated regularly and will contain videos on the following topics:Solo kata performance of various Kata, Impact and Pad Drills, Seminar Footage from Lee and other Instructors, Karate Throws, Locks and Ground Drills, Forthcoming Events Info, Along with other content as we continue to expand the LTK app. Click HERE and download yours today for only £1.79 ! 
 
Staying in touch
Please make sure LTK has an up-to-date email address so we can keep in touch with you. Our software sends out emails with current info and birthday emails, so if you have not received any of these please let us know. You may need to check your junk/trash/spam folder as your email may not recognise it in the first instance, then move it to your inbox. Postal address and phone numbers need to be kept current as well.
